Dental Officer
The Department of Corrections/Health & Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Dental Officer.
The Alaska Department of Corrections has an opening for a Dentist to provide preventative and restorative treatments for problems affecting the mouth and teeth of the state’s inmate population. This position will work with a dental staff at our Anchorage, Mat-Su Valley, Eagle River, Seward and Kenai facilities.
Salary for this position starts at $197,500 - $237,000 DOE, plus generous benefits including 11 paid holidays.
Monday through Friday work week totaling 37.5 hours.
The primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Educating inmates on oral healthcare;
- Examining teeth and diagnosing patients’ dental conditions;
- Assessing treatment options;
- Completing treatment on affected gums, decayed and fractured teeth, and perform tooth removal for cases where there are high levels of decay;
- Maintaining inmates dental records (DOC is in the process of implementing an Electronic Health Records system and procuring dental digital x-rays);
- Through the established processes, refer patients to oral surgeons as needed.
