Pay Range: $18-25 per hour.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for ensuring patient file matches scheduled patient, and that all exam forms are in order before patient screening. Responsible for verifying patient health information by interviewing patient recording and reviewing health history. Responsible for taking vital signs, retinal photos, tonometry test, refraction, and Oculus test. Responsible for informing Doctor scheduled patient is ready for eye examination or scheduled treatment and assisting Doctor in exam lane as requested or instructed by doctor. Responsible for processing all files after patient visit: All fee slips, exam and test forms, and letters are in order, secured in and match name on file. Responsible for accurate scanning of necessary paperwork and forms into patient electronic file. Responsible to escorting and assisting patient in the selection of their frames/lenses and or contacts and other products as requested by the Doctor and or the patient.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to Lead and Manager. Assigned O.D.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a busy office environment. There is frequent contact with Administrator, Physicians, Supervisors, employees, and outside agencies.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Frequent mobility and combination of sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and twisting. Standing required for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of twenty (20) pounds during the course of a business. Some bending and/or stooping required as well as manual dexterity, hand to finger, for using a calculator and computer keyboard. Perform complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge and its application to a variety of situations as well as exercising of independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Check patient file for accuracy (does file match scheduled patient).
- Check that there is an available screening room.
- On the schedule, cross patient off and initial (yours) at time of screening. Communicate regularly with O.D. as to patient status, schedule, issues, etc.
- Greet patient and direct to screening room.
- Perform health questions screen testing.
- Direct patient back waiting area and inform Doctor will see them shortly.
- Cross off patient from schedules and indicate time screening was complete.
- Other Duties as directed by doctor
- Inform Doctor that patient is ready for services.
- Escorts patient to Frames and or contacts and assists in their selection of
- Files appropriate insurance for patient
- Other Duties as Assigned.
EDUCATION: High school diploma, Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Optometric Assistant, Optician, Contact Specialist, Super Tech.
EXPERIENCE: Preferably medical office experience and or Optometry and or Ophthalmology experience. Computer experience desirable.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer systems, word processing programs and applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type correspondence.
- CMA certification, Optician licensure and or Contact Specialist licensure

- Skill in computer programs, and applications.
- Skill in gathering, interpreting, and reporting information.
