Position Summary:
Come join an award-winning program - ANSEP is recruiting for a Social Media and Marketing Manager.
Duties:
External Relationship • Send updates to strategic partners regarding component activities as it relates to the priorities of that partner or funding provided by the partner. • Produce and share a quarterly report. • Manage external communications output. • Ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization’s strategic vision. • Manage relationships with media outlets. • Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication including development, organizing and education. • Ensure consistent framing of messages. • Manage awareness of presence at events, conferences, and speaking engagements. • Advocate on behalf of the company brand with external stakeholders and the media across all communications channels and vehicles. • Collaborate with other team members to develop the advertising, marketing and promotion plans in support of ANSEP strategic partners.
Manage Marketing Activities • Coordinating marketing projects from start to finish • Act as the central point of contact for all requests from directors for marketing materials relating to each component. • Work with internal and external resources to produce the highest quality products that fall within ANSEP’s branding. • Organize and archive all marketing materials including handouts, brochures, content, photos, etc. • Maintain contact lists including current students, parents, alumni, sponsors, partners, etc. • Make sure that all promotional and marketing materials meet the company’s brand identity strategy.
Written Content • Write content for both print and Web including the company website, brochures, newsletters, etc. • Write and place opinion pieces for ANSEP personnel for publication in various media outlets. • Develop articles and stories for placement in earned media. • Write promotional and marketing related articles, stories and sections for various grant and award annual and progress reports. • Develop press releases for local, statewide and national release. • Produce and publish mass communications with email blasts and marketing campaigns. • Capture and share cohort stories for each of the components (Middle School, Acceleration, Summer Bridge, and University Success).
Develop and Manage Annual Communications Plan • Develop and implement a communications strategy. • Manage the communications budget. • Develop Key Performance Indicators that can be tracked and analyzed to determine return on investments, including but not limited to: ? Audience Growth ? Audience Profile ? Audience Engagement ? Content Reach ? Engagement by Content Type ? Leads ? Response Rate and Quality ? Negative Feedback • Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies. • Implement a content calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely marketing campaigns.
Manage Social Media • Develop and post content for ANSEP’s social media platforms. • Develop a calendar for the content for ANSEP’s social media platforms. • Monitor the company’s social media and online presence. • Recommend techniques to improve the company’s public image. • Create, curate, and manage all published content. • Become an advocate for the company in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate. • Develop organizational elements in order to implement a proactive process for capturing happy, loyal customer online reviews. • Publish videos and photography on company website, social media platforms and blogs. • Grow online supporter base and traffic
We are looking for a great communicator and a brand ambassador that can wear a number of hats as it pertains to maintaining all aspects of our social media and marketing needs. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing, social media, design, writing, and communication. The candidate will need to have a strong attention to detail and need to have the skills/ability to create a strategic plan, execute the work, and manage a budget. The required experience for this position includes: making creative and professional videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube, as well as, photography, website management, data management, and writing blogs and newsletters. Experience working with Alaska Native organizations and/or education is highly recommended and experience using Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, MailChimp and Adobe Applications is preferred. With a fairly small full-time staff we need our candidate to plan and execute projects while working with component directors to identify and fill needs. Internally, you will have to be able to effectively communicate with your supervisor, peers, students, and collaborators. Externally, this candidate will need to be able to communicate with all of the ANSEP strategic partners, news outlets, and media personnel. You should have a knack for composing social media posts that spark engagement and lead to measurable outcomes that are important to the organization. We expect a candidate that can analyze and examine the effectiveness of marketing and social media strategies and be able to adapt as needed in an ever-changing world. You’ll need to have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with and communicate to diverse audiences. You’ll need to have great public speaking abilities. We need someone who can provide compelling written content for a variety of needs including memos, letters, informational publications, annual reports, and more. We are looking for a teammate that can come to work every day and inspire and be inspired!
You’ll participate in marketing and oversee the social media content to ensure all products are in alignment with the brand and strategy of ANSEP. This role will be overseeing the content created in the areas of video, photography, ansep.net, ANSEP’s social media platforms, blogs, and more. You will manage ANSEP’s social media platforms and will develop a weekly calendar for social media content. You’ll be responsible for monitoring the company’s online presence. You’ll be asked to create a strategic approach for social media and marketing that align with organizational goals. You’ll work closely with the team.
ANSEP’s objective is to effect systemic change in the hiring patterns of Alaska Natives in science and engineering by placing our students on a career path to leadership. Started in 1995 as a scholarship program for university students, ANSEP has evolved into a longitudinal education model that provides a continuous string of components beginning with students in sixth grade and continuing on through high school, into undergraduate and graduate degree programs through to the PhD. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of communications best practices, particularly around social media. Knowledge of techniques and industry standards relevant to writing, edits, formatting, composing and producing written, web, graphic, photographic and audio-visual materials for news, public information/outreach, marketing/advertising and social media. Demonstrated applicable knowledge in persuasive and informative writing, creation of visual images and multimedia materials in support of specific public relations and communications goals. Knowledge of cross-cultural communications. Ability to manage various social media platforms.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and two years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a full-time, term-funded Grade 78, minimum $23.84/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.

Term Position:
