Public Works Technician
NOTICE TO APPLICANTS
The City of Cumberland will be accepting applications for the positions of Public Works Technician – Entry Level, Street Division and Pipe Technician I, Entry Level, Sanitary Sewers MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – STREETS: Requires a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D., a valid drivers license/CDL (CDL must be obtained within 6 months of hire). Basic knowledge of the use and operation of all hand tools. Must obtain Traffic Control Certification within 6 months of hire. Must be certified in all safety regulations and procedures within 6 months of hire. All requirements must be met with required time limit, or position will be terminated. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Work in a team environment, trains and performs work involving repair and maintenance of streets, parks, athletic fields and playgrounds. This is a temporary training position; All employees in this position must advance to Public Works Technician I within one year or employment will be terminated.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – SANITARY SEWERS: Requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D., Valid Driver’s License/CDL (CDL must be obtained within 6 months of hire). Completion of the Pipe Technician I Certification Program. One or two years of previous experience of a mechanic, construction or public works nature.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Job specifications available).

Completed applications are to be returned to the Human Resources Office prior to 3:00 p.m., May 26, 2022. A physical examination will be required prior to appointment.
