Agricultural Specialist I/II
The Iowa State University Research Farms is currently seeking applicants for two (2) Agricultural Specialists I/II. The ISU Research Farms consist of 12 staffed locations statewide that conduct site-specific agricultural research and demonstrations.
The positions will be located at the ISU Southeast Research Farm in Crawfordsville, Iowa and ISU Nashua Research Farm in Nashua, Iowa.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in agricultural discipline.
- Experience related to field agricultural research in U.S. corn belt.
- Skill in operating farm equipment such as tractors, sprayers, and combines.
- Experience with electronic technology applications in agriculture.
- Experience maintaining and fabricating agricultural machinery.
Example of Duties
• Assist in managing the farms' crops (corn, soybeans, other) production.
• Collects, records, and summarizes field research data.
• Planting, spraying, combining, tillage, crop scouting, operating ag machinery and maintaining ag machinery/facilities.
• Implements research protocols.
• Contributes to experimental design, management, and analysis.
• Consults with project leaders on experiments, protocol, and progress.
• Assists with field operations.
• Observes, diagnoses, and remedies crop problems.
This position will be hired as an Agricultural Specialist I or II depending on the candidate's experience.

- Bachelor's degree
Minimum qualifications for an Agricultural Specialist II
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience
Anticipated start date for these positions will be February 1, 2022.
